Designer Digitals Tip of the Week

Just saw this awesome tip at Designer Digital on adding texture to photos and thought I'd try it.  Here's a layout I previously did:
To make my photo look like it was printed on textured paper, I began by opening a photo and a canvas or linen paper.  I used Chocolate Craving from Chocolate Craving collab kit from Pretty Scrappy.
Next I used the Move tool to drag the textured paper over my photo, completely covering the photo. Next you create a clipping mask by moving your cursor between the photo layer and the paper layer in the Layers Panel and hold the Alt key (Mac: Opt key) while you click.
Next, I selected the paper layer and press Ctrl U (Mac: Cmd U) on your keyboard to activate the Hue/Saturation dialog box. You need to drag the Saturation slider all the way to the left to remove the color. If you do not do this, colors in the paper design can change the colors of your photo.
Finally, change the blending mode from Normal to Overlay. The blending mode drop-down menu can be…

End of year recap

Two thousand ten is now in the history books.  The year started out celebrating our granddaughters eighth birthday. We had so much snow and it stayed on the ground from November through March.   February my mother ends up in the hospital with some serious health issues.  She was unable to return to her home and ended up spending a couple months in a care facility. She was able to return home, which for awhile I wasn't sure would happen. We celebrated birthdays, weddings and funerals. I lost a cousin in October and a couple months later my aunt, the mother of the cousin that died in October.  We also learned we would be adding grandchild number 6 in June.

December I slipped on my photograph a day.  I've thought about whether to continue it in 2011, but think I'll approach it differently, not worrying about getting a picture every day but celebrating the everyday.

Scrappers/Bloggers Block

It seems like forever since I scrapped and couldn't seem to get motivated. Then the January Daily Digi files were released and downloading my files got the juices flowing.  I used the Celebrate Scrapping with Liz Year of Memories templates and Basic Grey Mellow kit.
